The Kashi Vishwanath temple is one of the most popular shrines at Varanasi, as it is believed that the mark of Lord Shiva fell here and is referred to as the Vishweshwara. Numerous pilgrims come over to the place just to visit and look at the shrine for some time providing their offerings and gratitude. The place is a common hotspot for all the pilgrims, who have come over long distances within the nation.
Moreover, the Ghats are generally used for bathing purposes, with exceptions like that of the Harishchandra and the Manikarnika Ghats. These are the places, where the cremation of dead bodies is performed out in the open in the traditional ways. In Hindu mythology it is believed that, if individuals are cremated after their death, they get a better afterlife.
The entire process of Moksha or freedom is depicted here at Varanasi, which is also symbolic of Gautama Buddha receiving enlightenment at Sarnath. All these events brought together will show you the cycle of life and the need for Moksha.
