Nightlife
This ancient city, of religious and cultural heritage of India, is not the exact spot for you, if you were looking to party all night. The basic reason for most of you to detest the night there is because, alcohol is like a dream and does not come easy. However, there are a few like that of the Patiala Peg, Prinsep Bar and the Gazal bar, all near the cantonment region. Other than these, it is really difficult to get yourself a hard drink in Varanasi.
However, the mood of Varanasi does not let you down at any point, making up for all the small things that are missing. The entire city with tremendous hustling over the day transforms into a different place altogether, with the people gathering around the Ghats leaving the entire city to silent echoes. The region along the Ganges looks truly beautiful at the night, due to the several shops and rituals being arranged - lighting the entire place.
Even the people coming out at the Ghats, often chant out mantras for worshipping and light incenses along with small diyas (lamps) and allowing them to float along the river. Market area is also well lit around this time and the temples carry on performing their rituals till late night. If you are lucky, you might also come across special performances from fire jugglers, who make it an art to play along with fire sticks.
All in all, the entire city of Varanasi remains alive throughout the night, with the entire life moving out to the side of the banks.
